“Student motivation is the key to learning and engagement. Today’s children are technologically savvy, so providing them with cutting-edge technological tools is a fantastic way to motivate them to learn.”

This year, grant requests from teachers and administrators at both schools totaled more than $50K. The foundation used nearly all of its reserved monies in order to fund the most needed.

In 2011, students at Markham Place and Point Road Schools started the school year off with $32,736 worth of new equipment, thanks to grants from the Education Foundation of Little Silver. The grants and gifts awarded for the 2011-12 academic year benefit students across all grades and multiple subject areas, and further support our mission to enhance the educational experience of Little Silver students through technology. Dear Teachers, Staff and Administrators:

The Education Foundation of Little Silver (EFLS) proudly continues our mission to enrich the education of students in the Little Silver Public Schools through technology. We are very grateful for the generous support of our upcoming annual fundraiser by the community: teachers, staff, administrators, parents and local businesses. With this support, we are able to fund our grant program.

Through our grant program we give you the opportunity to submit proposals for funding, with an emphasis on technology that enhances the instruction of our students through both visual and hands-on learning experiences.  Please feel free to submit any grant that you feel would enhance your students learning experience.  As a committee we are eager to hear all teacher requests and will take them into consideration with regard to the funding available.   The Education Foundation is ultimately a grassroots organization dedicated to funding projects that enhance learning through technology.   No project is too big or too small.

Please download and complete the grant application. All applications will be reviewed by Angela Rosen and your school principal before submission to the EFLS board. Applications will be reviewed on a competitive basis without set quotas for school, grade level, or subject matter. There is a possibility that the application may be partially funded or a comparable substitution may be made in consultation with the technology coordinator or supervisor of curriculum.

Submission deadline: Friday, April 12, 2013

Submit electronically to: Angela Rosen, arosen@littlesilver.k12.nj.us

Open review: Wednesday, April 17 2013 at EFLS meeting (8pm, PRS Library)
